Located in the historic mill and industrial district adjacent to downtown Lynchburg, Virginia, this historic adaptive reuse was blended with new construction of multi-family LIHTC units to promote loft living and neighborhood revitalization. The existing historic building was rehabilitated to include 20 two- and three-bedroom units as well as common area and community living spaces. Each unit is unique and was designed around existing features of the building, including pillars and large windows. The new building, designed with similar massing, detailing and choice of materials as the adjacent existing building, accommodates 24 two- and three-bedroom units.
